Cadet Scheme and Application
Kindly note the application form enclosed to this and be advised that it will apply only for officers graduated Varna Naval Academy or its students.
The foundations of the Nicola Vaptzrov Naval Academy were laid in 1881.
The Naval Academy prepares officers for the Navy and for the Merchant Marine.
The course of education for the specialties "Navigation" and "Ship Macnines and Mechanisms" last for five years. Upon successful completion of the course of studies graduates receive a "M. Sc. Degree".
The Technical University of Varna was fouded in 1962 under the name of Higher Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and is the successor to the traditions of academic technical education laid by the State Polytechnic during the period of 1946-1953. The first sudents - 564 in number - were admitted in 1963 and the training process was carried out in 6 different fields.
In its 40-year history the Technical University of Varna has won recognition as an authoritative Bulgarian research center in science and technology.

SAPKO-C.E.Ltd takes advantage of the services of Varna Naval Academy, offering to its students 5-year course of studies in the aforementioned specialties.
Candidate-students for all specialties have to pass the following entry exams:
1. Exam in mathematics in writing
2. Test in Bulgarian language
3. Physical training
General training is provided through the following subjects: higher mathematics, physics, information technologies, technical mechanics, English language etc.
Special subjects are as follows: Maritime Law, Maritime Navigation, Ship Maneuvers Management, Technical Means for Navigation, Water Transport Economics, Radionavigational Systems, Navigation Safety, Marine English Studies, Technology of Marine Shipments, Astronavigation, International Maritime Law. The course of studies terminates with final state exams.
Sea practice is to be carried out onboard ships and in ports, encompassing all activities on management and trade exploitation of the fleet.
General training is provided through the following subjects: higher mathematics, physics, information technologies, theory in mechanics, technical drawing, metal science, technology of metals, theory in machines and mechanisms, English language studies etc.
Special subjects are as follows: Exploitation of ship energetic apparatus, Ship's Diesel Engines, Turbines and Systems, Ship's Electrical Systems, Organization and Technology of Shiprepair. The course of studies terminates with the elaboration and defense of diploma project and final state exams.
DECK AND ENGINEER CADET INDUCTION
During the course of education the students in specialty "Ship machines and mechanisms" are required to have 3 months of seagoing experience, and the students in specialty "Navigation" - 6 months practice at sea. Usually this is done after the third and fourth academic years of their studies. This namely needs to provide ships for their onboard cadet practice and companies to be willing to ensure this respectively.
After the students are given their certificates of competency and endorsement they embark as apprentices commencing onboard practice and duration 3 months for engineer officers and 6 months for officers. This seagoing practice gives them the needed practical knowledge to enable candidates to be proficient officers.
After completing the onboard apprenticeship service junior officers are granted letters of reference, which becomes basis for any further promotion of the relevant candidate if the cadet has proved himself to be a successful one.

The company maintains a register of cadets willing to gain the necessary experience as follows:
6 months onboard experience during the course of studies at Nikola Vaptzarov Naval Academy and Varna Technical University
6 months onboard experience after graduation and after taking the final state exams
